First Light is a 2001 Lightwave 38, built in Australia and is to be one of the most intelligent "under 40-foot" catamarans ever designed.
She is built to handle the rigors of sailing in the southern oceans. Her robust composite hull is constructed of hand laid biaxial fiberglass, Divinycell Foam core and is vacuum bagged to provide maximum strength and minimize weight.
She is fast, stable and easy for a couple to sail. She features excellent underwing clearance, meaning she will not only be faster underway (owner has sailed her at 21kts), but will not pound or bang like so many other catamarans.
The large main salon design is full cabin width, has a 360 degree panoramic view and the double French doors leading to the cockpit make this feel like a much bigger boat, which helps to set her apart from most other 38' catamaran options.
OWNERSHIP HISTORY
2001 to 2004 - Original Owner was located in Cape Coral Florida
2004 to 2013 - 2nd Owner, a Surgeon, relocated her to New York. She was lightly used during the summer and stored undercover on the hard during the winter
2013 to 2019 - 3rd Owner, an Engineer and US Coast Guard Captain, brought her back to Tampa
2019 to Present - The Current Owner, spent over $35,000 addressing every item on the survey as well as upgrading this boat in order to go on an extensive cruise with her son. Unfortunately, her son's illness prevented the dream cruise from becoming reality.
