The Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee is a trawler-style yacht designed and is a beloved model among trawler enthusiasts, valued for its quality construction, comfortable cruising, and timeless design. Her accommodations in only 36' rivals that of a boat 5 or 6 feet larger. With a single diesel engine and bow thruster, she is easy to maneuver and economical to run. Carrying 280 gallons of fuel and 300 gallons of water, she is capable of cruising extensive distance in comfort and safety.

This boat went through an extensive refurbishment, overseen by a knowledgeable owner who ran a boat yard and live aboard her for several years. She will be an excellent "Looper Boat" or live aboard.

Here's a brief history of the Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee:

• Introduction: The Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee was introduced in the early 1980s as a smaller sibling to the highly successful Kadey-Krogen 42 trawler. The company aimed to create a more compact yacht that retained the seaworthiness and comfort of its larger counterpart.
• Design: The Manatee's design was focused on providing comfortable long-range cruising capabilities, with an emphasis on fuel efficiency and a sturdy hull. The yacht featured a full-displacement hull shape, a raised pilothouse, and a spacious interior layout that maximized livable space.
• Construction: Kadey-Krogen Yachts constructed the Manatee using high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The hull was typically built using solid fiberglass, ensuring durability and strength. The yacht's construction quality and attention to detail contributed to its reputation as a reliable and well-built vessel.
• Dimensions and Specifications: The Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee measures approximately 36 feet in length overall (LOA) and has a beam of around 13 feet. It has a displacement of around 26,000 pounds, allowing for a comfortable ride even in challenging sea conditions. The Manatee is equipped with a single diesel engine, typically ranging from 80 to 120 horsepower, which provides efficient cruising speeds.
• Interior Layout: Despite its size, the Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee offered a spacious and well-designed interior. The main deck typically featured a salon, a galley, and a pilothouse. Below deck, there was a forward stateroom, a head (bathroom), and additional sleeping accommodations in the salon. • Popularity and Legacy: The Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatee gained popularity among boating enthusiasts who sought a smaller trawler-style yacht without sacrificing comfort or seaworthiness. Its reputation for solid construction and excellent cruising capabilities made it a sought-after vessel for long-distance cruisers and liveaboard boaters.
• Production and Availability: Kadey-Krogen Yachts built the Manatee for over a decade, from the early 1980s until the mid-1990s. During that time, they produced a limited number of these yachts. As the years went by, used Kadey-Krogen 36 Manatees became available on the market, allowing boaters to acquire these well-regarded vessels.

GALLEY

The U-shaped galley is located on the port side, forward of the saloon. It is very large and has an exceptional amount of cupboard, drawer and locker storage. In addition there is a teak louvered pass through to saloon. Deep double stainless steel sinks with new upgraded faucet with pullout nozzle. It features:

•    4 burner Force 10 oven/stove. Model 1988146 installed new. ( May 2021)

•    GE Microwave – 700 watt model JEM3072SH2SS. Under cabinet moun installed new t. ( September 2021)

MASTER STATEROOM

One of the outstanding features of the Krogen Manatee is the large stateroom, located forward.

•      Queen size, center line berth

•      Large "walk-in" size hanging locker

•      Bulit-in bookcase, mirrored vanity and generous drawer storage.

•      Four opening ports and a large opening hatch for great ventilation especially when you are on the hook.

SALOON

The Saloon is entered through double teak doors from a fully covered large aft deck. Aft deck fully enclosed with eisenglass/screen panels. It features a built-in U-shaped settee to port with ample storage. The starboard is open, allowing for 2 comfortable chairs and a small table. There are large opening windows with custom mini blinds port, starboard, aft and on doors. 

HEAD

The head is located to starboard, opposite the galley. It includes a large separate stall shower and a large opening window and a Dutch door for ventilation.

•      Vacuflush VG12 – Complete recondition (all seals, duck bill valves, clamps) and new pressure switch ( October 2021). Toilet recondition; complete bowl/base kit ( October 2022).

PILOTHOUSE

The pilothouse on the Manatee is located on the boat deck, and offers 360-degree visibility. It is completely enclosed with Lexan windows not only for the forward facing windows but on the sides and rear or the pilothouse as well. There are side deck doors port and starboard The settee converts to a double bed for an additional berth. The center of the windshield also opens for ventilation. CONSTRUCTION

The Manatee hull and cabin are of fiberglass sandwich construction with closed-cell PVC foam core; heavy hand lay-up using mat and roving. The state of the art construction is one of the most enduring and safest afloat. Closed-cell PVC foam does not deteriorate or absorb water. The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quietly, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull. All joiner work, paneling and beam caps are of prime teak. Cabinetry is also teak
